The Romea Theater will host next Thursday, February 9, 'The Winter's Tale', Shakespeare's classic directed by Declan Donnellan along with the company Cheek By Jowl.
This work, defined as "one of the best works of Shakespeare directed by one of the most recognized directors of Europe", is part of a tour of four functions in Spain, in collaboration with the Teatre-Auditori Sant Cugat (February 12 ), The Arriaga Theater in Bilbao (February 16), the Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center in Avilés (February 18) and will begin at the Teatro Romea on Thursday.
'The Winter's Tale' is one of the best works of William Shakespeare, which despite being written in the same period as 'The Storm', dismantles all the rules it respects: the three Aristotelian units, the Space, time and action.
The montage speaks of a delirious and paranoid king who destroys his family.
But this is the new Shakespeare who, having completed his great tragedies with the hard struggle for redemption, gives way to hope.
This time Donnellan is back with Cheek by Jowl, one of the great international companies that has acted in 392 cities in more than 50 countries, reaching the six continents.
Founded in 1981 by its artistic co-directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, the company is dedicated to making fresh and vivid productions that focus on the art of actors, avoiding dictatorial and design concepts.
The center of the repertoire of the company has always been Shakespeare although it has also bet to represent important works of the European theater, both in its original version and translated.
Cheek by Jowl produces pieces in English, French and Russian and has already visited Murcia in 2015 with 'Measure by Measure' together with the Pushkin Theater in Moscow, with the text in Russian and receiving ovation from the audience at the Teatro Circo Murcia.
The price of tickets is 15, 18 and 20 euros.
