The Municipal Board of Beniaján this Saturday held the second popular race to raise funds for Caritas in the hamlet.

Registration for the children's race can be made by donating 1 kilogram of non-perishable food, while adults can participate with 6 euros that will go entirely to this entity.

With this action, framed in the carnival celebrations, the Municipal Board supports once again events with solidarity character for the promotion of the cooperation in the hamlet.

The pedestrian mayor of the Popular Group, Francisco Hernández, reports that "this is not the first time in Beniaján we have participated in solidarity events, since we have carried out numerous campaigns to raise funds for the neediest families in the hamlet."

Hernández states that one of the most important actions carried out in this area was the grant that la Caixa Foundation donated to the association Columbares.

Thanks to the negotiations with the Municipal Board, they were able to repair the homes of several disadvantaged families of Beniaján.

These neighbors, who are in a situation of social vulnerability and who do not have the economic resources to take care of the repair, lost their homes by the landslide of a slope due to the heavy rainfall.

With the support of this entity and the Municipal Board, these families now live safely and without fear of further landslides since, in addition to removing debris and renovating their homes, they erected a retaining wall of more than 2.50 meters to prevent the Slope will fall off again.
