Murcia gains 1,115 inhabitants and reaches a population of 440,993 people (20/01/2017)

According to the official register on January 1, 2016, the districts concentrate 61% of the residents, although seven of them do not reach the thousand: Carrascoy-La Murta, Cañada de San Pedro, Cañadas de San Pedro, Baños y Mendigo, Valladolises, Los Martinez del Puerto and Rincon de Beniscornia.

The most populated districts are El Carmen, Vistalegre, Infante Juan Manuel and Santa María de Gracia.

In the city has 675 inhabitants less, while the districts have gained 1,766.

The causes of the increase of population have been due, above all, to the almost 10,000 increases due to change of residence from other municipalities and the 4,700 registered births.

Murcia increased its population by 1,115 inhabitants in 2015, from 439,878 to 440,993 on January 1, 2016, according to the official register that will approve the Plenary next week.

Computing the accumulated increase in the last decade, the municipality has added 18,132 residents, representing a 4.2% growth.

The causes that have motivated the variation in the number of inhabitants have been, above all, 9,987 discharges by change of residence from other municipalities and 4,689 births.

In addition, the new census incorporated 2,472 people who had resided abroad, 2,197 discharges by default and 70 by sex change.

On the contrary, the main causes were: 9,202 for a change to another municipality, 3,724 for undue / duplicate registration, 3,192 for death, 1,279 for non-renewal, 820 for a change of residence abroad and 70 for rectification of sex.

The variation recorded has been uneven between neighborhoods and districts.

Thus, while these incorporated 1,766 residents, reaching 272,733 inhabitants, the city has lost 675 people, and maintains a population of 168,260 people, 38.1%.

The most populous neighborhood is, by contrast, El Carmen, where 20,073 inhabitants are concentrated, followed by Vistalegre -14,286-, Infante Juan Manuel -13,125-, Santa Maria de Gracia -12,441-, Espinardo -11,575-, San Antón .8,275- , And The Fleet -8,138-.

According to the register on January 1, 2016, 11 neighborhoods have increased their population: Cathedral, Espinardo, Infante Juan Manuel, San Antolín, San Basilio, San Juan, San Pío X, Santiago el Mayor, Vistalegre, Vistabella and El Ranero.

Six pedanias exceed 10,000 inhabitants

Concerning the districts, where 61% of the population resides, the largest increase has taken place in Churra, Guadalupe, San Benito-Progreso, Sangonera La Verde and Santiago and Zaraíche.

El Palmar -22,997-, Puente Tocinos -16,481-, Cabezo de Torres -12,725-, La Alberca -12,344-, Sangonera La Verde -11,244- and Beniaján -10,972- remain the most popular, while seven districts do not reach the thousand Inhabitants: Carrascoy-La Murta, Cañada Hermosa, Cañadas de San Pedro, Baños y Mendigo, Valladolises, Los Martínez del Puerto and Rincon de Beniscornia.

68 people over 100 years old

According to the level of education, the municipality has 36,834 children under 16, 3,510 people who can not read or write, 57,365 without studies and 37,985 with university degree or graduates and 10,456 with a doctorate, master's degree or postgraduate study.

Murcia has 19,445 babies (0 to 3 years), 76,409 children and adolescents (4 to 18 years), 93,955 young people (19 to 35 years), 184,521 adults (36-64 years), 66,595 over 65 and 68 The century of life.

The revision of the register of inhabitants, whose approval will be submitted to the Plenary of the next week, after the opinion of the Commission of Plenary of Infrastructures, Property and General Affairs, has been elaborated by the Service of Statistic and Notifications, dependent of the Department of Trade and Institutional Relations.
