The professionals of the street intervention project of the Jesús Abandonado Foundation have attended a total of 21 people this past night in the urban area of Murcia.
Finally, five of these people have been lodged in the squares that Jesus Abandoned has prepared in a pension of the capital before the cold alert that suffers the Region of Murcia.
As explained Miriam Predats, social worker of the institution, "we have been at all times coordinated with Solidarios, the group of technicians and volunteers of the University of Murcia, and reporting to the Mobile Emergency and Social Care Service (SEMAS) of the City of Murcia ".
"This coordination between all has been very effective and has given a very good result, for what we hope to continue in this line in the future."
The Jesús Abandonado Foundation has reinforced with additional places in this new pension the 202 existing in the Reception Center, 33 places in supported housing and 26 more in the social pension managed by the institution.
From Jesús Abandonado they underline the fact that these resources, together with others like the Day Center, are available every day of the year, "and not in a timely manner by an alert", although it has reinforced the services of hot wines, Blankets, sacks and anything else that could be useful if needed in a cold emergency.
"The key is to link all the people who remain on the street for different reasons so that in a gradual way they leave that situation," says Predats.
