The Parks and Gardens Service, which is part of the Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, carried out in 2016 a total of 839 tree plantations and 12,019 shrub plants in green areas, gardens Historical and medians of the urban helmet and districts.
The tree replanting campaign is carried out in winter beginning normally in the months of November or December and finishing in February as it is the best time for the plantation which ensures greater success in the plantation.
Of the 839 planted trees, mostly native species, 469 belong to the urban area, 363 to pedanias, 9 in historic gardens and 4 in medium.
To this is added the campaign of replanting of shrubs that is realized in spring, beginning normally in the months of March or April and ending in May.
Of the 12,019 new shrub plants, 7,150 are in the districts of Murcia, 2,659 in districts and 2,210 in historic gardens.
To these tasks is added the supervision of large specimens that are inspected with eye means, climbing or lifting in basket and according to their needs some pruning is done so that they are reviewed and a report of the tree is generated on the date it is revised.
Each year two annual revisions of these trees are carried out to avoid problems of fall of branches, among others.
In all, during 2016, 1,410 supervisions have been made to large trees.
Councilman José Guillén explained that "we maintain our commitment to improve our green areas and, therefore, the quality of life of our neighbors."
"It is the intention of this Government Team to increase the tree mass of our municipality to, in addition to improving the aesthetic aspect of our parks and gardens, contribute to CO2 reduction.
In this way we create a greener city and committed to the environment, "said Guillén.
