The Governing Board has agreed to award work on upgrading the Segura River on its left bank to enable a bicycle lane, a walking area and rehabilitating access ladders, thus executing one of the projects contained in the plan 'Murcia River'.
Thanks to these works, the Contraparada and Beniel will be united by means of a bike path of 26,5 kilometers.
Thus, the total length of this healthy itinerary, designed specifically for the transit of bicycles and pedestrians, will allow to continue the stretches that already run between the Malecón and the Contraparada, and between the Auditorium Víctor Villegas and Beniel, thanks to the construction of The 2 kilometers that separate the Malecon from the auditorium.
The bike path, which will be located in the interior of the bike, will occupy an area of 2.5 meters wide, as well as the pedestrian area, with two different lanes being established.
It will install a white pavement composed of a mixture of artificial sawn and polymer resins that will provide this terrain of great resistance and impermeability, suitable for cycling and pedestrian use.
The whole section will have a novel light beaconing system, powered by sunlight throughout the day to be bright at night, in order to highlight the limits of the lane.
Likewise, medallions of stainless steel or cast aluminum will be placed to separate visually the pedestrian traffic of the cyclist.
The project also includes the rehabilitation and conditioning of the six pedestrian stairs that give access to the river, proceeding to the repair of deteriorated steps and cleaning and sanitation of the surface.
The company that will carry out the works, within a period of 4 months and for the amount of 194,854 euros, is Construcciones Manuel Noguera Gil.
