Students at Our Lady of Arrixaca College collect the harvest from the autumn plantation of their school garden.

A total of 35 educational centers in the municipality of Murcia participate in the 'Network of Organic School Gardens of the municipality of Murcia' (RHEMU), which this year celebrates its ninth edition and has the participation of more than 5,000 people this year.

The councilor of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Corchón, participated this morning in the collection of vegetables from the school garden that the students of the school Our Lady of the Arrixaca planted at the beginning of autumn.

Last October the autumn-winter plantation was planted, where cauliflower, broccoli, romanescu, red cabbage, red cabbage, broad beans, peas, lettuce, radishes and carrots were planted. Several of these vegetables.

Since the RHEMU was launched, a total of 65 centers and more than 8,000 people (schoolchildren, teachers and AMPAS) have participated in this initiative.

This network provides educational centers with an advisory service, help with the planning and implementation of orchards, an annual prize, loan of tools, bibliography service and documentation of school gardens and ecological agriculture, environmental education activities, realization Of educational units for school gardens, talks of entities and / or experts related to organic farming, health, food, etc., dissemination of school gardens on websites and social networks, organization of training sessions for the exchange of experiences, etc.
