The bust of Martínez Tornel occupies, from today, the square that bears the name of this journalist Patiino, who worked for the social and cultural development of the city and the preservation of the murcian traditions, from the late nineteenth century to early Of the 20th century.
Mayor Jose Ballesta attended this afternoon, along with councilor Jesus Pacheco, to the discovery of this commemorative sculpture, which coincides with the centenary of the death of Martinez Tornel, which has been sponsored by the Cajamurcia Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce , And another 50% by the City Council, with the collaboration of the Official College of Journalists.
The piece, of realistic cut, has been elaborated by the young sculptor cartagenero Juan José Quirós, and is part of the tribute that the city of Murcia has wanted to render to one of its most illustrious neighbors, and that is completed with the book of Pedro Soler Entitled 'Martínez Tornel, the great chronicler of Murcia and his garden', which was presented last May.
