The light will reach the Segura in a way never seen to date, with a show of water, light and effects in the area of the River Mills.
The program of Christmas and Three Kings parties bet on the neighborhood of Carmen and the bridges of the city as main scenarios protagonists.
More than half a thousand events among children's activities, concerts, shows and free events for the whole family make up the leisure offer of the City of Murcia for the Christmas and Three Kings, a complete program for all ages that will fill the squares, Gardens, markets, museums, libraries, theaters and shopping centers of light, water, music, art and life.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the councilman of Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, and members of the Municipal Corporation, presented this morning the program of events that include "from opera to street, concerts, urban dance and A light show in Segura waters, to a complete offer of children's activities with workshops, shows and attractions for children;

Light, water, music, art, life: more than 500 activities throughout the municipality
"During this Christmas we want a city full of life.
We want the Murcia to spend Christmas in the street, filling the city with life.
Therefore, as the main motive of Christmas we have chosen two concepts that will be transversal to all programming: light and water.
"The Light of the Water at Christmas.
Two elements that define Murcia.
Two elements that are necessary for life.
The light of the sun, the clarity of Murcia.
And the water, our river Segura and the irrigation system of the orchard.
We re-interpret these concepts, modernize them and make them the axis of Christmas.
As an example, we can mention:
- The Christmas Tree, a tree of lights on a fountain that gives life to it.
- Luz del Segura, a modern and avant-garde show that has as protagonists the effects of light on jets and water sources inside the river, "said the mayor.
Content of the program
If light and water are the concepts that inspire the whole program, the script is written with musical notes.
The whole program, all the squares, every day, are full of music in all their records, from the most traditional of our land to the most international music.
- Opera: tenors, sopranos, baritones ... During all Christmas and in the most emblematic spaces: the Cathedral Square, under the Moneo and in the Circular Tree.
- Corals and orchestras.
Numerous choirs and orchestras will take part in Christmas: the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, the San Buenaventura Choir, the Choir Fernández Caballero, the Discantus Choir, the Almus Quartet, the Nostra Ms. de la Antigua de Monteagudo Choir or the Grouping Juvenile Musical of Cabezo de Torres.
- Gospel and Soul.
This year we have opted for Gospel and Soul, two styles of music typically American, with two of the most representative groups that will perform this week at the Circus Theater: South Carolina Gospel Chorale and Black Heritage Choir.
- Jazz: a group in the style of New Orleans Jazz bands will tour the streets of the city firing the year.

Here we will combine light (audiovisual shows) with music and dance.
The dance will be: exhibition (academies of Murcia) and participation (the spectators will be able to dance also with the audio-visual ones)
Along with the music, will also have great relevance in the programming the performing arts, with performances that will be developed both in the street as in the theaters of Murcia and auditoriums of the districts.
- Air Art Festival.
- Children's activities: Thumb, Bell, Amahl and night visitors (auditorium of Algezares), Cinderella, Los Cabritillos, etc.
The spaces:
The spaces in which the program is developed have been chosen according to 3 criteria:
1.- The activities in the city do not develop around a central point, but around two axes: a north-south axis and another east-west axis.
A. The north-south axis is the one that develops between Plaza Circular, with that great Christmas tree and the neighborhood of Carmen, which is one of the main neighborhoods of these holidays.
"On the Christmas tree we have already spoken on numerous occasions.
There will be more than 300 activities and shows throughout the holidays.
The clearest bet this year has been the Barrio del Carmen, a neighborhood in which we want to return to become a point of reference for the city, "said the mayor.
Three squares of this neighborhood will have life during all Christmas: the artillery barracks, the garden of Floridablanca and the Plaza de la Paja.
Also, for the first time, the Cavalcade of Kings will leave from the Infante, making more tour through the Barrio del Carmen.
The east-west axis: it takes place in the surroundings of the river, or Malecón, where we will have attractions of Fair, or Plan of San Francisco with the market of ecological products of the Huerta, as well as all the bridges until FICA, where we have completed And the exhibition of recycled art.
In Los Molinos Del Río will take place one of the most emblematic shows of this Christmas: The Light of the Segura;
And in Puente Nuevo, a concert of flamenco carols.
In the square of the Red Cross will be enabled infantile zones, inflatables and a tent with workshops.
B. The districts and districts, a fundamental part of the program.
"We recently presented the program of cribs, with a specific section of the most emblematic cribs of the districts, so that all Murcia come to visit them.
Likewise, within the party program you can check both the presence of the districts in the city and the most outstanding elements of the districts of Murcia, "said José Ballesta.
We are going to make concerts in all the squares of supplies of the municipality and throughout the program there are events in the districts of Espinardo, Nonduermas, Cabezo de Torres, Torreagüera, Algezares, Bridge Tocinos, Alquerías, El Esparragal, La Alberca as well as some neighborhoods like Vistabella, El Infante, San Andrés or Fame.
C. We opened the museums and took the exhibitions to the street.
Throughout the program we can find dozens of children's activities, concerts and events in the city's museums (mainly the Ramón Gaya, the City Museum and the Science Museum), in order to open these spaces To the Murcia.
Likewise, we are going to carry out various outdoor exhibitions, with which we pretend to show that the museums go out to the street: the exhibition of recycled art, as well as the exhibition and creative hatch that can already see by the main squares of the city .
The most emblematic events with big surprises
The most emblematic events of Christmas will also bring many surprises: the arrival of Santa Claus, the holiday of year end and the arrival of the Three Kings, the Cavalcade and the roscón de Reyes.
