A work by doctoral student of the University of Murcia (UMU) Alejandro Espí Hernández on the presence of women in Spanish local power has been selected as the best presentation of the First Congress of Young Researchers with a Gender Perspective.
In this research, the author, PhD student in Political Science and Administration under the direction of Professor Antonio Garrido, analyzes in quantitative and qualitative terms the evolution of gender parity in Spanish local politics from the beginning of democracy to today.
The work, which will be published in the journal Femeris, was chosen from more than forty studies that were presented at this congress, which was held at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid.
The award is in addition to the prestigious Political Communication Award Victory Award "Emerging Leader 2016", awarded to Espí by The Washington Academy of Political Arts & Sciences, (USA).
