Antonio Barceló Sánchez has been the winner of the 2016 Solidarity Anonymous Award, an award promoted by the University of Murcia's Social Work Faculty (UMU) and the Volunteer Platform of the Region to recognize the solidarity, humanitarian and disinterested activity carried out in a way habitual.
Solidario Anonymous 2016 is a neighbor of Beniaján of 75 years who has been dedicating himself to others since always, because he understands solidarity as a way of life.
As a result of his early retirement he intensified his voluntary work, motivated by a talk organized by the Municipal Center of Social Services Murcia Sur in 1999.
Since then he has actively collaborated with the Volunteer Office of the City of Murcia, carrying out work to accompany people with difficulties and participating in campaigns to promote and recruit volunteers.
Also worthy of note is his active role in the Senior Center of Beniaján, being the promoter of the School of Painting, which continues today and annually convenes a national painting contest for seniors.
The award, consisting of a sculpture by Antonio Campillo, will be presented on December 16 in the Hemicycle of Letters of the UMU.
