The hall of the Almudí Palace hosted this morning the presentation of the book 'Murcia, the Andalusian city that contemplated Alfonso X', by Julio Navarro and Pedro Jiménez, a work articulated around ten chapters and a historical introduction that the mayor of Murcia described as "a scientific and rigorous and at the same time affordable, which brings us from the excellence to the medieval origin of Murcia, a city with a long and fruitful history worthy of being remembered."
At the ceremony, which was held as part of the commemoration of the 750th anniversary of the Council of Murcia, the co-author of the book and archaeologist of the CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas), the Murcia Julio Navarro;
The Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco;
The head of Expansion of Salzillo (company sponsor of the publication), Antonio Pellicer;
Besides the philologist Enrique González Semitiel;
The municipal archivist Mari Ángeles Jover;
And the Official Chronicler of the Region, José Antonio Melgares.
The alcalzaba, the medina and its walls, the mosques, the souk, the baths, the streets and adarves, the houses, the cemeteries, the suburbs and the estate palatine of Santa Clara, besides a detailed plan of the Andalusian Murcia of the century XIII, are some of the historical elements included in this publication that has more than a hundred bibliographical references.
