The public information process, which ended Monday, has registered 10 suggestions, raised by two communities of neighbors, the municipal groups of Now Murcia and Cambiemos, the Ecologists in Action Association, the Architects Association of the Region of Murcia and other individuals
The technicians of the Department of Development already study the proposals presented to the pedestrianization project of Alfonso X in order to incorporate those that are viable and improve the initially designed performance.
The public information process, which ended last Monday, has recorded ten suggestions, whose in-depth analysis has begun this week.
These have been presented by two communities of owners of buildings in the area, two political groups (Now Murcia and Cambiemos Murcia), the Ecologistas en Acción Association, the Architects Association of the Region of Murcia and other individuals.
Councilor Roque Ortiz thanked all of them "the contribution of ideas and suggestions they have made and we will study as they deserve, within the process of participation and transparency put in place, which constitutes one of the basic pillars of this action."
From now on, the municipal technical team will study and evaluate all these allegations, in order to include those suggestions that contribute to the enrichment and improvement of the execution project, already in its final phase of drafting, as a step prior to its immediate tendering and performance.
Ortiz explained that "the work phase has been technically taken care of to the extreme, with the greatest interest given that neighbors, shops and all surrounding activities have the least possible affection."
Pedestrian axis of 50,000 m2
The councilman has indicated that "the key elements of the project for the municipal corporation are the improvement of environmental and acoustic conditions, reducing noise, increasing trees, as well as maintaining the space occupied by terraces.
All this in order that the result is, as in other urban spaces of Murcia, a new reference for the stay and enjoyment of citizens.
The objective of this project is to create a large pedestrian axis of more than 50,000 square meters from Glorieta to Alfonso X El Sabio, connecting Plaza Belluga, Trapería, and Santo Domingo and Alfonso X in their meeting with Gutiérrez Mellado and Jaime I.
The new area reserved for pedestrians will be equivalent to 5 football fields and the project also incorporates bike lane and a good number of public car parks.
The pedestrianization will improve the quality of life of residents and Murcia, as pollution and noise will be reduced and new spaces of stay and walk will be configured, maintaining the current area of the terraces without increasing it, improving accessibility and creating More shaded area.
