The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and members of the Municipal Corporation inaugurated this afternoon in the Plaza Circular the Christmas tree and participated in the great lighting of the largest Christmas installation in the history of the city, in a multitudinal act that marked The beginning of the holidays.
The great ignition occurred with the placement of a star carried by a group of young people brought from the Segura River.
"The light of the star and the water of the river will unite to illuminate our Christmas" proclaimed Jose Ballesta.
It is an installation with 22 meters of perimeter for more than 30 meters of real tree and almost 80 meters of virtual tree.
This tree is also sustainable, because the more than 50,000 points of light that have been installed count on LED technology of ultra low consumption.
The show was adorned with the music of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region and the San Aventura choir.
Later members of the group B-Vocal, the most outstanding formation of the music to cappella in Spain and one of the most important of the world went on the stage.
During the afternoon, the city hosted concerts in the main squares (La Guardia in the Plaza of the Apostles, Classics of Rock in the Garden of Fame and Elliot's trip in the avenue of Freedom), tastings and distributed 6,000 drinks Of cava, more than 10,000 Easter cakes and grapes.
More than 300 activities and shows around the tree
The Circular Square tree combines tradition and innovation and, in addition to being sustainable, will be a living tree full of families, children and adults during the holidays.
That is why throughout the square, and throughout Christmas, will be developed around him more than three hundred audiovisual shows, magic performances and workshops where children and their families will be able to learn, free of charge, to paint their own nativity figures , To make muffins and Christmas sweets, to plant their own Christmas tree and to enjoy pinatas, dances, theater, storytelling, concerts, carols and many more surprises.
It will also be a solidary tree, since all the Christmas will collect toys that children throughout Murcia want to donate, which will be distributed to other children who need them.
In addition to the facility inaugurated this afternoon, the City Council has placed Christmas trees of about 6 meters high with natural ornaments of vegetation, LED lighting, giant Christmas decorations and robotic light cannon in the Díez de Revenga squares, Plaza de las Flores , Plaza González Conde, Glorieta de España, Manterola, Plaza de los Apóstoles and Plaza Mayor.
