Puente Tocinos launches the Christmas celebrating the figure of the impresario of the textile sector and former president of Real Murcia, José Pardo Cano, with a garden dedicated to his memory, and the work of the huertana peña La Crilla that, from today, has A square with its name in the locality.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by Councilwoman Maruja Pelegrín, the Mayor of the Municipality, Enrique Carrillo, and the official chronicler of the hamlet, Juan García, was in charge of inaugurating these two public spaces this morning and discovering the Commemorative monoliths.
A man made himself and loved by his neighbors
The garden dedicated to José Pardo Cano is located in front of Calle Sol, where in 1941 this successful entrepreneur who died last year was born, surrounded by the affection of his relatives and neighbors.
Cano was, along with his brothers, the man who forged the textile company Liwe Española SA, which in 1989 became the first Spanish company (based in Puente Tocinos) to take the leap to the stock market, generating more than 450 Direct jobs, as well as numerous indirect jobs in the hamlet.
He was also the most laureate president in the centennial history of Real Murcia.
La Crilla: safeguarding the Murcian identity
La Crilla, which has 37 years of life (founded in 1979), now has a homonymous garden next to the street Sol. La Crilla is one of the associations with more roots in Puente Tocinos and carries out year-round socio-cultural activities of a costumbrista character that contribute to safeguard the Murcian signs of identity.
This rock has been responsible for revitalizing the Group of Choirs and Dances 'Seven Crowns', reincorporated in 1982 the tradition of parading with carts pulled by 'cows of the land' in Bando de la Huerta and develops multiple cultural activities in Puente Tocinos: Music school, theater group, typical games, gastronomy, embroidery, sewing, excursions, coexistence and a wide cultural offer for all ages.
