The Nativity Program combines folk tradition with art, as the city's museums also collect collections of unique nativity scenes from around the world, as well as a collection of paintings around Christmas from the 16th-18th centuries.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, presented today the first program of Nativity Scene of the municipality, which includes the different locations of the main births and cribs distributed by the city and districts, which Can be visited throughout Christmas.
More than 30 nativities - two of them living - and a total of eight artistic exhibitions (pictorial, sculptural and artisan) represent the Nativity of the Lord, through different styles.

It is a program that combines popular tradition with art, as the city's museums (Almudí Palace, Salzillo Museum and City Museum) also collect collections of unique nativity scenes and from different parts of the world, as well as a Set of paintings around the Christmas of the XVI-XVIII centuries.
In addition, Paseo Alfonso X El Sabio hosts, from today until January 5, the XXXII Exhibition of Christmas Crafts in Murcia.
The henna hut: tradition and Murcian scenes
Since Francis of Assisi began this tradition to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ in the thirteenth century in Italy, the crib spread to different regions of the world, resulting in different styles and classifications.
In Murcia is characteristic the huertan nativity, a birth of popular style that stands out for its large number of figures and representation of elements of the rural landscapes such as mountains and rivers, in which there are no murcian motifs.
In this sense, stands out the Bethlehem Municipal that opens tomorrow, in the Episcopal Palace and that this year has been realized by Peña La Breva, with figures in charge of the sculptor Manuel Nicolás Almansa;
As well as the birth of the Palacio de San Esteban, installed by the Regional Artisan Prize, which commemorates the 750th anniversary of the constitution of the Council of Murcia and the Jubilee Year of Caravaca de la Cruz.
In addition to the 14 births of the city (one of them the living huertan grotto in the Garden of Floridablanca), the route includes another 17 more in the districts of Puente Tocinos, Los Garres, Santiago and Zaraiche, El Ranero, La Alberca, Alquerías , Cobatillas, Zarandona, La Arboleja, Monteagudo, Cresta del Gallo, Casillas, El Seco of El Raal (living nativity) and the shopping centers of Nueva Condomina and El Tiro.
In total, the City Council puts today, at the disposal of the residents of Murcia and people who visit the municipality during these holidays, a total of 20,000 brochures of the Route of the Bethlehem.
The points of distribution are the Tourist Offices, hotels, Cultural Centers and in the main births of the city and districts.
