The Governing Council of the University of Murcia (UMU), meeting today, one December, in the building of the Rector, has approved the draft budgets for the year 2017, which amounts to almost 214 million euros and, In the words of the Vice Chancellor of Economy, José María Abellán, mean "moderate growth of 4.67 percent."
Abellán explained to the members of the Council that they are budgets less expansive than those of 2016 "and perfectly fundable", with a gross saving of 1.7 million euros.
At the time of its preparation, said, has taken into account the international situation and the forecasts that can be made face the next year.
In particular, he added, the impact that Brexit can have on the economy, the arrival of Trump to the White House and the possible slowdown in Spanish finances.
Among the objectives pursued by the Budgets are the stabilization and promotion of templates, the expansion of mobility grants and attention to diversity and the imposition of the own research plan and support for scientific activity.
They are also directed towards the promotion of transfer, employability and welfare services, support for university centers and departments and the acquisition of a software license to combat plagiarism.
Special interest will be put in the participation of the members of the university community in deciding to what is dedicated a heading of the same, that in this occasion will raise to 150,000 euros, compared to the 50,000 of the previous exercise.
As a novelty has pointed out that this participation, which last year was limited to students, this time will also be open to teachers and administrative staff and services.
The vice-rector also said, on the other hand, that an investment of 3.6 million euros is contemplated for the works of the Aulario of the campus of Sciences of the Health.
The project approved today will pass to the Social Council, which is the competent body for final approval.
