The American Chemical Society has distinguished José Vicente Soler as emeritus professor of inorganic chemistry at the University of Murcia (UMU) as one of the five researchers with the most published articles ( "Highly Prolific Authors") in the journal Organometallics during the last five years.
"That this magazine recognize us in the same list of prolific authors is the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2005 Richard R. Schrock - is a consequence of our policy of disseminating research results in the best publications, even if this is an additional difficulty, Says the UMU professor.
This recognition brings visibility to the UMU in the different international forums, since "its name appears next to other universities of reputation, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which translates into a huge prestige for our institution as a center In which research of the highest quality is carried out, "he adds.
Professor Vicente also wants to emphasize that this success would not have been possible without the work of his current collaborators, researchers Aurelia Arcas, Delia Bautista, María Teresa Chicote, José-Antonio García López, Juan Gil Rubio, Pablo González Herrero, Eloisa Martínez Viviente And Isabel Saura Llamas;
"As well as others who at the moment work in industry, teaching or research inside and outside Spain."
José Vicente Soler has led for 35 years the group of excellence of the Region of Murcia of Organometallic Chemistry, which works on the synthesis of organometallic compounds (those that have carbon atom bonds with a metallic atom) to prepare new molecules of special value For its usefulness in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, food, and electronics industries.
"Our research seeks to know the behavior of organometallic compounds against different reagents and which products are obtained, so that new synthetic methods can be established and new compounds of interest can be prepared," he concludes.
