The City of Murcia, through the Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, has held an extraordinary cooperation council for the granting of grants of 3 projects to help 4,500 people in Haiti.
In this way, they will be able to palliate the damages caused by Hurricane Matthew in the beginning of October, in which more than 500 people died, and more than 175,000 people have been counted evacuated.
The total amount that has been earmarked for this action is 30,000 euros and will be carried out through three institutions that have been working regularly with the City of Murcia, such as: UNICEF, Foundation Humanism and Democracy and Solidarity, Education and Development, channeled through three projects worth 10,000 euros each.
Acquisition and distribution of hygiene kits, food kits and drinking water;
Essential medicines, sheets / blankets and mosquito nets;
And health and environment awareness talks are the main needs to be covered.
The three projects that have been presented are: 'Humanitarian aid for the inhabitants of the town of Port-Salut, after the passage of Hurricane Matthew by the south of Haiti' of Humanism and Democracy Foundation;
'Humanitarian action to care for the people affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti', UNICEF;
And 'The right to education in times of emergency: covered basic food needs for the students of the school Notre-Dame de Fatima, devastated by Hurricane Matthew in Dame-Marie, Haiti' SED.
