The City of Murcia has joined the request for a state pact on gender violence, as reflected in the institutional statement approved today by the Plenary on the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women Woman that will take place tomorrow.
The Corporation thus reiterates its firm commitment to reject violence and to work to eradicate it, while calling for the right of women to enjoy a life free of sexist violence.
The City Council therefore urges the Government of Spain, on the one hand, to provide adequate budgetary resources and resources for the prevention and social assistance of victims and their descendants and, on the other hand, Of the future Pact for Education, progress in collaboration with the autonomous communities in the incorporation of specific training in equality and prevention of gender violence.
The text unanimously approved by all groups reaffirms that the time has come to extend the Comprehensive Law against Gender Violence, so that all possible manifestations are collected and not exclusively those that occur in relationships as in this moment.
Such is the case of female genital mutilation, enforced or early marriage, and trafficking in women and girls for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
"They are flagrant violations of freedom and the human rights of women," the statement states, and "neither of these forms of violence is complicity or silence."
The Municipal Corporation also refers to women with disabilities as another group of priority attention, in addition to raising, on the other hand, the implementation of Custom Judicial Accompaniment in the Courts Specialized in Gender Violence to make information accessible to women Victims of gender violence on the itinerary and more secure procedure, in their legal route from the moment they submit the complaint until the end of the process.
In addition, the City Council of Murcia acknowledges in its institutional statement the important work carried out by the Municipal Team for Attention to Gender Violence (EMAVI), the Local Police Specialist Team (EPAF) and the Unit for Psychosocial Care in Emergencies ( UPSE) of Civil Protection, which provide permanent and continuous assistance to women and their children, victims of gender violence.
