Felipe Coello, councilor of Health and Sports of the City of Murcia, presented this morning, accompanied by Juana Martinez de Haro, president of the Association of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder of Murcia (ASTEAMUR), a motion to support and improve the quality Of people with any Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their family members.
According to Coello, "we are going to set up awareness programs and disseminate all TEA disorders in this municipality, creating awareness campaigns on this problem, especially in schools to facilitate the social inclusion of these People and promote respect for diversity from an early age. "
Likewise, we intend with this initiative, said Coello "to encourage and carry out periodic activities using necessary municipal infrastructures such as libraries, exhibition halls and sports facilities, as well as to have pictograms in leisure areas such as playgrounds for children to know the Rules of the game ".
Pictograms, explained Coello, are the "tools of communication and organization for people with autism, are symbols that synthesize a message bypassing the language barrier for the purpose of informing and signaling."
The popular councilman explained that "on the occasion of the celebration of World Mental Health Day, on October 10, stresses the need to establish specific measures to ensure adequate attention to the mental health of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). "

The most frequent are mood disorders (depression), which present 57.2% of the group, and anxiety disorders, which present it 53.6%, according to studies by Lever and Geuters, in the same Year 2016.
These disorders often begin to manifest in adolescence and present themselves more intensely as they reach adulthood.
In many cases they can be the result of the interaction between the nuclear characteristics that define the ASD and that directly affect the social communication skills and the flexibility of the person's thought and behavior, the context in which it develops and the Experiences it is acquiring.
