The Campus of Los Jerónimos of the Catholic University of Murcia has hosted the 23rd Murcian Conference on Hypertension, which conclude on Saturday.
The event is declared of scientific-sanitary interest by the Spanish League for the Fight against Hypertension (SEH-LELHA), is organized by the Society of Arterial Hypertension and Cardiovascular Risk and UCAM.
Fernando Hernández, vice president of the Murcian Society of Hypertension and professor of the UCV RCV Chair, explained that "these days serve as encouragement for the training of doctors both in residents and professionals."
When talking about medical advances, Fernando Hernández commented that "today despite the advances made in recent years, hypertension remains the leading cause of worldwide mortality in men, because it is the main A factor that triggers myocardial infarction.It is also important in women, because if we look at Murcia, we have as the first cause of death the cardiovascular accident, which the first cause that causes it is hypertension, which is an important issue ".
Jesús Millán, of the Internal Medicine Service of the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital in Madrid, commented that "this event is mainly aimed at medical specialists from different areas, mainly primary and specialties such as cardiology or internal medicine, which Are dedicated to the management of cardiovascular diseases and the risk factors of them ".
The latest developments on diabetes, care for these patients, their diet or the multidisciplinary view of cardiorespiratory protection in diabetes mellitus are some of the topics that have been developed at the Conferences through 18 clinical cases, 6 round tables , 4 lectures and a master class.
During the event, which also hosted the V Meeting of Pharmacists of the Region of Murcia on multidisciplinary control of the patient with Cardiovascular Risk and the XVIII Meeting of the Region of Murcia on clinical experience in HTA and RCV, has been awarded the prize of Smuhta and RCV to the best research study in HTA and RCV (2014-2016).
