Let's change Murcia has filed a motion to the plenary session next Thursday so that the City Council proceed to withdraw the advertising panels that correspond to private companies that violate the ordinance on outdoor advertising.
This was announced today by Councilman Nacho Tornel, who explained that the motive of the motion is the proliferation of advertisements in the supports of the City that are located on public roads in many neighborhoods and districts of the municipality.
The initiative urges the Treasury Department to prepare a report on the contractual relationship between private advertisers who use municipal spaces as advertising support and the City Council, as well as the conditions and tariffs.
In addition, it requests the drafting of a report that includes a list of the Municipal Boards that has managed from its scope the use of these spaces of municipal ownership, the procedures followed and the contracting conditions.
Similarly, the motion proposes that the Legal Services of the City Council study, in the light of reports, possible irregularities and legal actions by the municipal administration.
Tornel recalled that such panels have been installed in places such as Espinardo, Churra, Beniaján, Puente Tocinos or the city's own town center to advertise commercial names along with traffic signs and street address indicators.
This means, in the words of the mayor, a "violation" of the aforementioned Ordinance, which "expressly prohibits the placement of signs or directional signs with the mention of trademarks, logos, trade names or establishments, products, promotions and other In public roads, through the use of traffic signs, signaling and road safety, of the public lighting columns and columns and road signs for this purpose.
