In addition to the maintenance and intensive care of the existing specimens, the intervention provides for the planting of selected trees and a green and floral mantle, with a network of trails for public use.
The improvement and improvement of the area, classified as Environmental and Landscape Heritage of the municipality of Murcia, has a budget of 55,226 euros (excluding VAT).
This orchard area, located next to the Palmeral Lane, has a large population of date palms and a unique traditional irrigation system and its recovery is part of the Plan of Action of the Huerta de Murcia, which seeks the regeneration of agricultural land .
The conditioning project, which was approved by the Governing Board on September 30, will involve the creation of a large green lung of 9,000 square meters in the north, with a network of trails that run along the palm tree line, with benches and Places of stay as pergolas integrated with the environment, as well as the planting of a green and floral mantle that integrates with both the palm trees and the selected trees to be planted.
The intervention has a period of three months since the award of the contract and involves the creation of a network of platforms that facilitate pedestrian traffic and allow the maintenance of this palm grove, which began a process of deterioration towards the end of the 1970s And whose property was acquired by the City Council in 2014.
