The City Council of Murcia, through the Council of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz Caballero, has collected the seal of recognition Amiga Cities of Children 2016-2020, awarded to Unicef.
Ruiz Caballero has traveled to Santander to collect the award that allows the city of Murcia to join the network of municipalities that apply the norms and principles of the Convention on the Rights of Children of Unicef ​​and develop strategies and measures to procure the Welfare of the same.
Since 2012 the City of Murcia carries out a specific program of care for children and adolescents to prevail these principles, promoting awareness in all services and participation in local networks.
One of the latest measures has been the creation of a Participation Table, where they will have the smallest voice of the municipality, to help adults define how Murcia is what they want.
In addition, a report has been prepared, which has been sent to Unicef ​​Spain through its delegation in Murcia, which includes all the initiatives carried out by the municipal administration designed and directed to children and adolescents, including all The resources made available to parents, such as reading promotion activities, through children's sections in public libraries and their cultural programs such as storytelling, recitals, puppets and children's theater, table games workshops, etc. .
