The rector of the University of Murcia (UMU), José Orihuela, today accompanied the mayor of the city, José Ballesta, in the visit he has made to the aquarium of the educational institution on the occasion of its tenth anniversary.
The university and city authorities have visited the facilities, located in the Old Barracks of Artillery, where you can find from Indian ocean sharks, clown fish or coral reefs of the Pacific, to seahorses or jellyfish of the Mar Menor, Among many other species.
The tour included a guided tour of the scientific area of ​​the Aquarium, which among its main landmarks has been able to reproduce for the first time in the world the seahorse or, for the first time in Europe, pups of white-tipped sharks.
Aquarium, the only aquarium in Spain linked to a university, have passed more than 300,000 visitors in its ten years of life.
