Murcia City Council renews its collaboration with the Association for the Treatment of People with Cerebral Palsy (Astrapace) for the project "activities with families to reconcile work and family life" and "Independent Being" program.
To this end, the Governing Board has given its approval to the proposal from the Department of Social Rights with 33,000 euros to subsidize both initiatives.
"Being independent" Project enables beneficiaries cohabit for four months outside the family environment, sheltered housing, accompanied by different professionals, acquiring the knowledge and skills that are useful to live independently.
It is aimed at users aged 40 between 18 and 65 years.
Also, the Department of Social Rights will continue its support for the operation of the project "activities with families to reconcile work and family life" which Families serving the demands is part of the Support Service and Attention families raised concerning information, emotional support, counseling, respite care and leisure time (camp and summer schools).
It also collaborates with the associations and the environment (coordination with community resources, networking, emerging needs observatory, tracking leads, etc).
The projects are aimed mainly at 620 people with intellectual disabilities and their families associated with Astrapace, although nonusers people are also addressed.
These are programs whose main aim is to raise awareness on issues related to disability, mobilize support for the dignity, rights and welfare of these people, and try to increase awareness about the benefits arising from the integration in each one of the aspects of political, social, economic and cultural life.
