The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, today visited the residence of persons with disabilities in the village of El Palmar Murcia, where he participated in the theme party, on the occasion of Halloween, prepared residents.
This center has 90 seats, of which 40 are residential care and 50 day center, which have a grant of more than 3.2 million euros through the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS).
During his visit, Thomas Violante praised the individualized care plan that this center.
He said, "recreational activities like today, that allow residents to leave their routines are necessary".
"They are there offering levels of standardization as tight as possible to the environment around them. This is a level of integration that allows the development of skills and abilities of the individual," he added.
At beginning of year 2016 there were 3,651 care places for people with disabilities, an offer that the Community has expanded to 309 seats residential care, day care center and empowerment, representing an increase of 8 percent.
The counselor explained that "in October 2016 have reached seats 3,960 in services for people with disabilities. The regional government is promoting the expansion of places and support services to people with disabilities and their families in order to improve their quality of life, "he said.
