The collaboration between the Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, the Department of Sports and Health and associations Man Project, the Huertecica, Heliotropos, Asmujer and New Hope will allow to launch, for the first time in the municipality, a specific campaign youth warning of the dangers and risks of problem gambling, with special emphasis on sports betting.
The City Council will contact the directors of the 25 secondary schools in the municipality to schedule talks in different classrooms in which representatives of the various associations convey to them the various problems that can result from gambling.
Equally 25,000 leaflets the different phases of a player are collected (when you start to make money, when you lose and when you can not stop playing), how to tell if you have a problem with gambling and advice will be published to try to fix it.
Likewise telephones and websites of the partner associations are included so that young people can contact them.
The City Council also will contact the youth correspondents to transmit this information to students of institutes.
Thus compliance is given to the motion passed at the municipal plenary in July in which one of his points in the implementation of this campaign was proposed.
According to a survey this year by the Directorate General of Public Health and Addictions of the Ministry of Health, 7.4% of young Murcia between 14 and 17 years claims to have played with money online, while 18.2% of these young people claim to have played with money off the Internet, where lotteries and football pools, bingo halls, casinos, betting and slot machines would be included.
