Researchers at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena made a diagnosis of the Municipal General Management Plan (PGMO) of Murcia.
The work will allow for a complete review of all planning instruments developed since 2001 to verify compliance with the determinations included in the environmental impact statement.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Alejandro Diaz, the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, today signed an agreement to carry out research and development program of environmental monitoring and analysis of municipal planning.
This analysis of the General Plan, to be held in the next 15 months, the current situation of urban planning in the municipality, both urban and environmental be addressed.
The analysis affects noise issues, environment, traffic, landscape and infrastructure, among others.
The results will lay the foundations for a new land-use planning.
The cost of the work is around 151,000 euros.
The City of Murcia provide more than 98,000 euros of equity and UPCT provide resources worth more than 52,000 euros.
In the research team, led by Marcos Ros, principal investigator of the group 'Urban Research Laboratory' UPCT five experts, four of the School of Architecture and Building and other Agronomists involved.
It will also work a guest researcher at the University of Murcia.
The municipality of Murcia and UPCT currently developing different lines of collaboration.
Among other issues, the Polytechnic has investigated heavy metals in the soils of the city of Murcia, interventions in the Cathedral and analyzed proposals to improve the quality of urban life in Infante Juan Manuel neighborhood.
