Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Victor Calvo-Sotelo, and the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, today signed a collaboration agreement that launches the 'MiMurcia project: Your Intelligent City Hall, Close, open and innovative 'beneficiary' II Call for Smart Cities' of the Digital Agenda for Spain.
The meeting took place in the city of Murcia and he also attended by the director general of Red.es, Daniel Noguera, Councillor for Administration Modernisation, Jose Guillen, and members of the Strategy Committee of Government Technology (iT) of the City, which is also part of the University of Murcia.
The planned investment for this project is 7,999,018.82 euros, which will provide 69% the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism through the public entity Red.es, while the remaining 31% being borne by the Town hall.
This set of actions will be cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Secretary of State for Telecommunications said "the signing of this agreement we take a new step in the digital transformation of our municipalities and mark the beginning of this ambitious project."

Initiative 'MiMurcia'
The 'MiMurcia' initiative aims to develop a platform to bring the City to citizenship, citizen personalizing information depending on their context, location and time.
It is based on three main lines of action.
The first proposes the creation of a single monitoring center that will integrate solutions as a Citizen Relationship Management (CRM) and proactive smartcity platform.
The second axis, called 'Living Murcia' includes actions to revitalize the city center.
Including the improvement of intermodal public transport, reducing parking time in the city, smart parking and parking for the disabled and smart pedestrian steps.
Efficient lighting also in the center, map of city noise, intelligent selective waste collection, trade promotion at the center and profiling users and tourists.
In third place is 'Enjoy Murcia', which includes performances focused on the parks and gardens of the city: irrigation automation systems, efficient lighting, surveillance and security, improving municipal wireless network and monitoring of environmental conditions.
Calls for Smart Cities
A total of fourteen projects benefit from the 'II Call for Smart Cities' Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, as the draft resolution, which also plans to expand the initially planned investment of 48 million euros to a total of 63, with the aim of reaching more municipalities.
Mostly those provided by the ministry, through Red.es, with co-financing from European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
These local entities, meanwhile, will be responsible for between 30 and 40% of each initiative.
The 'I Call for Smart Cities' are benefiting, meanwhile, a total of 11 projects related to 25 cities with over 20,000 inhabitants, located in Andalusia, Castilla La Mancha and Extremadura.
Selected initiatives currently underway, involving an investment of 13.8 million euros.
Digital Agenda for Spain
These two calls for Smart Cities are part of the National Plan Smart Cities of the Digital Agenda for Spain, which is endowed with a budget of 188 million euros.
The Plan is a substantial reform of policy stimulus and support the deployment of sustained smart cities so far and operates in four areas: governance, aid to local authorities and industry, internationalization and development of technical and legal regulations.
Co - financing of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
This call for aid is co-financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Operational Programme Smart Growth (POCInt).
The purpose of the ERDF is to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union and correcting imbalances between its regions.
