Councilwoman Let's change Murcia, Margarita Guerrero, he has asked the City Council to allocate a part of the emergency fund available to the Department for Development Cooperation to help hurricane victims in Haiti, which has so far left more than a thousand deaths.
The proposal has been welcomed by the mayor of the bouquet, Rebeca Perez, who has pledged to convene the Municipal Council for Cooperation and Solidarity in the coming days in order to finalize the aid.
This would be the second time in this legislature that from municipal authorities aid is sent to an affected by natural disaster area after last April, at the request of the municipalist training, the Consistory support a total of 20,000 euros to the Ecuadorian people.
Guerrero pointed out that the fund is endowed with 100,000 euros and that, therefore, the City has the financial capacity to allocate aid to Haiti, where about 750,000 people will need assistance and protection over the next three months, as announced by the humanitarian agency from the ONU.
The mayor also stressed that from us change Murcia will collaborate on all actions that are in place in the municipality to sensitize the public of the need to address the humanitarian emergency in Haiti and raise funds.
