Murcia hosts on Saturday in Lobosillo the regional celebration of the International Day of Rural Women, a day in which the assistance of several hundred women is expected.
AFAMMER present the award to Rural Women of the Year awarded to Rafaela Ortega, while Veronica Molina will be awarded a special mention.
The City of Murcia, through the Department of Social Rights, headed Conchita Ruiz, has organized, together with the Association of Families and Women in Rural Areas (AFAMMER), the Second Day of Rural Women, to be held next Saturday , Oct. 15, on the occasion of the celebration of International Day of Rural Women.
Several hundred women from different localities of the region will gather in this meeting which will highlight the importance of promoting female entrepreneurship in rural areas and draw attention to the active role of women.
The event, to be held in the sports hall of Lobosillo Vicente del Bosque and will start at 9.30 pm, was presented today by the Councillor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, president of AFAMMER, Carmen English, and the President of the Municipal Board of Lobosillo, Mari Carmen Conesa.
The event aims to facilitate a meeting between the various associations of women in the municipality, and report on policies and EU directives for promoting agricultural and rural sector.
The keynote speech will focus on "Rural women's entrepreneurship?".
They will talk about it Inocencia Maria Martinez Leon, professor of Business Administration Department of Business Economics UPCT, and Maria Dolores de Miguel Gómez, Professor of Economics, Sociology and Agricultural Policy UPCT.
Subsequently, there will be a "table of experiences" with the participation of Miguel Buendia (Campodos), Paloma Escudero (Omep), Isabel Mendoza (encajera Bobbin) and Francisca Izquierdo (entrepreneur helicicultura).
It will also report on the use of new technologies, women's self-employment and the importance of reconciling work and family, while empowering experiences of women in rural areas will be exchanged.
2016 Prize for rural women
Before the closing of the day, he will be awarded the distinction of Rural Women of the Year 2016 awarded by the AFAMMER Murcia Rafaela Ortega, manager of the company Almazara Deortegas, Yecla, dedicated to the production of oil organic virgin olive oil.
The winner will receive a bronze sculpture by Maite Defruc.
The association has also awarded a special mention to Veronica Molina Casillas, who after a lifetime dedicated to the field and the farm, continues today with a flock of sheep and 100 goats working from sunrise to sunset.
Bobbin craft shows
