Councillor for Traffic and Public Safety, Lola Sanchez, this morning visited the exhibition 'Helmets with history', organized by the MAPFRE Foundation, which seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of using the helmet.
This entity organized this activity with the aim of drivers of two-wheeled vehicles on the importance of using the helmet awareness.
According to experts traffic MAPFRE Foundation in 2014, this security element saved the lives of about 200 bikers.
'Helmets with history', which will continue until tomorrow at the Plaza de Santo Domingo, analyzes the evolution of motorcycle helmet from 1885 to today and highlights different milestones and characters linked to its history.
Visitors to the exhibition will receive information about using the helmet correctly and how to avoid an accident and may participate in a competition in which various prizes, such as an electric bicycle and motorcycle helmets and bike will be raffled.
It shows, for example, how died Lawrence of Arabia in 1935 because of not wearing a helmet, an event that allowed the neurosurgeon who treated him, demonstrate the effectiveness of helmet in preventing serious injuries and convince the English army of use mandatory six years later.
