Angel-Luis Booming, professor emeritus at the University of Murcia, speaks at a symposium on "Shakespeare in the language of Cervantes to 400 years," organized by the Center for Mexican Studies in Spain, National Autonomous University of Mexico.
It will be on Wednesday 21 September at 19.30 in the House of America of Madrid, and with Professor Pujante, Alfredo intervene Michel Modenessi, National Autonomous University of Mexico and Salvador Oliva, University of Girona.
They will be moderated by Miguel Saenz, of the Royal Spanish Academy.
Three translators exception together in public for the first time
Recently, Espasa completed a new edition of the Complete Theater of William Shakespeare in three volumes: "Tragedies", "Comedies and tragi" and "Historical Dramas", edited and directed by his principal translator, Angel Luis Booming, Professor Emeritus University of Murcia.
These volumes collect translations before published throughout his life by the Pujante teacher and performed by him for this edition, as well as versions of the remaining works, which he turned to the professor, translator and Catalan poet Salvador Oliva and also professor and Mexican Alfredo Michel Modenessi scenic translator.
This new translation of the full theater of Shakespeare has been performed alternating verse and prose according to the uses of the English playwright.
All this is especially significant in a year in which the memory of both writers is celebrated.
This time the three translators meet for the first time to reflect jointly and publicly.
The purpose of this act is to share a forum to compare and evaluate ideas and experiences, both in their capacity as participants in a joint project, as from their individual perspectives.
