The European Mobility Week began yesterday and continues until Thursday September 22 Murcia won the first prize of the European Mobility Week 2015, awarded by the European Commission, ahead of a total of 1,873 cities in 19 different countries
The European Commissioner responsible for transport, Violeta Bulc, gave as an example the Mobility Week Murcia (SEM) 2016 as a model for improving transport on some areas of the city.
As stated this morning in their social networks, "Learn from Murcia" highlighting the effective work of the City Council in the European Mobility Week which began yesterday and lasts until next Thursday, September 22.
The event, in which all the departments of the City of Murcia participate, has more than fifty open and free activities for all ages, focusing this year on three lines of action: bicycle, promotion of employment and the electric vehicle .
Mayor Jose Ballesta, thanked Commissioner recognition and has expressed its commitment, indicating his tireless attempt to overcome in this matter.
Councillor for Traffic and Safety, Lola Sanchez, has said that Murcia won the first prize of the European Mobility Week 2015, awarded by the European Commission, ahead of a total of 1,873 cities in 19 different countries.
The European Commission, which grants the award through the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, acknowledged that Murcia, with nearly 440,000 inhabitants, "worked successfully in the coexistence of motorists, pedestrians and cyclists", said the Councillor for Traffic and Safety Lola Sanchez, who has also indicated that the Commission "considered that the city responded perfectly to the theme of 2015, multimodality".
This award is the recognition of the European Union's commitment to the City of Murcia with the principles of sustainable mobility and respectful coexistence between cyclists, cars and pedestrians.
