Lola Sanchez and Conchita Ruiz, accompanied by representatives of Cermi have made this morning a path of integration Barrio El Carmen, reviewing the works of accessibility that have made outstanding and possible improvements.
Universal accessibility is one of the areas addressed by the Bureau of Disability and constitutes a fundamental pillar of the strategy City 2020, around which were created working groups formed by municipal technicians and representatives of the various associations.
Ruiz recalls that "everyone has the right to move around the city and make it freely, without obstacles that hinder us or detract us comfort."
The commitment to getting Murcia become a city 100% accessible is one of the priority commitments which the City Council and whose control is reviewed continuously works.
The task is championed by the Department of Development and Social Rights, acting in the hand of the associations and organizations of disability in the municipality.
This morning, within the activities of the European Mobility Week, Lola Sanchez and Conchita Ruiz, responsible for Traffic and Social Rights, respectively, accompanied by representatives of the Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI), wanted to repeat the tour they made last April, in which noted certain deficiencies in public that should be corrected to improve pedestrian accessibility.
From the Old Bridge to Calle Carmen, in both directions, they have checked the result of the work done to correct damage.
In many it was the fords of tactile paving, which had no continuity to the facade.
In others, because there was no such warning indicator pavement touch or proximity to danger points at intersections with streets at the same level, a fact which has also been modified.
Also, it has generated in large areas such as Plaza Camachos and the entrance of the Garden of Floridablanca, a directional strip placed longitudinally to the direction of pedestrian traffic, serving as a guide or link between the front lines.
Conchita Ruiz, Councillor for Social Rights, stressed the need to continue with the creation of integration routes covering the entire city because "universal accessibility is essential for achieving a society in equal conditions for all citizens, in any field of life".
