The collaboration between the Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture, the Municipal Board of Monteagudo, the Mountaineering Federation of Murcia and the ATA Shining Path group has allowed the design, signage and approval of a walking route that will allow to value the monumental set of Monteagudo.
This new itinerary covers the three strengths of Monteagudo (El Castillo, the Castillejo and Castle Larache), and the various infrastructure around the monuments such as the deep garden, the Albercón and different irrigation channels used by the inhabitants of the time to grow.
All these attractions are marked with interpretive signs to publicize his story and main data.
This walking route called PR- MU 37, has a distance of 6.3 kilometers, character circular vertical drop of 60 meters and low difficulty level.
To promote the route, the City Council has published some information leaflets with all data and items of interest that may be collected from the tourist information points and in the Visitor Center Monteagudo.
Also it has placed an informative post, in Spanish and English, large with a very innovative design at the entrance to the castle of Monteagudo, on Calle Alfonso X, where visitors and tourists with a glance will appreciate the cultural richness and tour of the town, with the slogan 'Monteagudo, people with history'.
In addition, work will start soon recovery of the Roman road that is adjacent to the visitor center, which together with the Argaric cabin and exposed, will realize the archaeological wealth that hides the hamlet.
Itinerary path
The route of this new route starts at the door of the Church of Monteagudo where the first interpretive poster where the route is explained and all the monuments discussed.
Subsequently, through the streets of the village you will access the visitor center Monteagudo, where you can know the future of the people of Monteagudo over time, from the argárica times, through the Roman period and ending in the period of greatest splendor, tayfa of Murcia under the reign of King Lobo.
Then hikers can climb to the foot of the castle of Monteagudo where a panoramic panel from the heights explain all the monuments is contemplated.
Subsequently, it accesses the Castillejo, summer residence of the famous King Lobo, where an interpretive panel reports its importance and defines the heyday of the Kingdom of Murcia arriving from Seville to Alicante.
After the route will run along the Polvorines park where you can relax in the recreation area and use existing barbecues.
From there he will go to the castle of Larache, almunia of the time where the grain was stored and where King Lobo housed its most illustrious guests.
Subsequently water infrastructure can meet the time walking between orange and lemon trees.
