Councilman Administration Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, Jose Guillen, and the councilman of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, accompanied by the director of Terra Natura Murcia, Gustavo Martinez, this morning attended the closing ceremony of the first edition Summer School Adapted from Terra Natura Murcia directed mostly to children with disabilities but has also had the participation of adults up to 37 years.
In total there were 80 people who have benefited from these therapies assisted with animals made from a, recreational, athletic and educational innovative approach.
This initiative is the first school of zooterapia multispecies of Spain, developed by the comprehensive rehabilitation center Chiron Centaurus Terra Natura facilities during the months of July and August.
Thus have carried out various rehabilitation activities aimed at people with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, autism disorder and attention deficit and syndromes and rare diseases, which have been accompanied by specialized therapists, physiotherapists , speech therapists, psychologists, experts in sports science and animal experts.
Among the actions carried out include those worked timeouts, self-control, fine and gross motor skills, the hand / eye coordination, sustained attention, teamwork and sensory and respect for animals.
The activities were held in this, conducive to promoting values ​​such as respect, preservation and knowledge of nature with sea lions, horses, dogs, lemurs, giraffes, birds of prey or fallow natural environment.
Councilman Jose Guillen has said that "Terra Natura is an ideal place to develop this type of activity scenario, not only for being a natural and highly enriching, but because it is also fully adapted to the needs of children."
Conchita Ruiz, Councillor for Social Rights, has announced that "thanks to an agreement between the city and the nature park, 24 children with disabilities and economic difficulties made these therapies bring them many benefits."
Meanwhile, Gustavo Martinez, Director of Terra Natura Murcia, explained that "as an alternative to conventional approaches, our school aims to stimulate personal, social, physical and cognitive development through animal-assisted therapy based on the use of the various resources that help us as co-workers. the movement of the horse, for example, provide a great neuromuscular and vestibular stimulation, improving tone, balance and proprioception of the body ".
This summer about 80 users aged between 5 and 30 years have benefited from this therapy.
This is a summer school also created to facilitate family reconciliation in full summer season.
