The University of Murcia (UMU) has won a total of 503,000 euros in the convocation Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education-what accounts for 16 percent of the funding for two projects entirely on immigration and refugee crises and for the inclusion of students with disabilities.
UMU has thus obtained funding for two projects presented to the call of Erasmus + 2016 program, for which only fifteen were selected throughout Spain, of the 85 proposals that attended it.
The initiative on refugees, which has achieved an aid of around 335,000 euros, aims to promote the social responsibility of higher education institutions before the immigration and refugee crisis that is registered in the European Union and work for the integration of same.
The planned actions are divided into four areas: a study on the perception that young people on the subject, develop training activities that promote a better understanding of these conflicts, development of teaching materials on migration and shelter and investigate initiatives European universities held on the matter.
As for the second project, which will receive more than 168,000 euros, it comes to designing a European measures and reasonable accommodation in the university academic environment for students with disabilities transnational mobility of international standard.
an online and multilingual platform that will house a catalog of institutions that meet this standard and that, in turn, should serve as a place for common exchange and adjustment of curricular adaptations that colleges must make to students also articulate mobility programs.
In both projects, the UMU figure as coordinator, also participating in them universities in Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and institutions such as the ONCE Foundation, in the case of the second initiative.
These projects were promoted by the UMU through the Vice President for Coordination and Internationalization, led Professor Bernardo Cascales.
