Seven young people with Down syndrome'gradúan' in maintenance and cleaning at City Hall (29/07/2016)

Students finish their practices today in the 'School of Crafts' of Ferrovial Servicios, having received theoretical and practical training over the last two months in municipal facilities.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by lel Councillor for Public Works, Roque Ortiz, President of Fundown, Diego González, and the manager of Local Authorities of Ferrovial, Antonio Luna, today received young people with Down syndrome ending today practices in the 'School of Crafts' of Ferrovial Servicios, having received theoretical and practical training over the last two months in municipal facilities.

"These seven young people who are not only workers but also very capable, have proved their worth and overcoming compormiso throughout the traineeship.

From today enter the employment exchange of the concessionaire of the municipal cleaning and waste collection, so that some of the students will have the opportunity to enter into an employment contract before the end of this year, "said the mayor , adding that "the formation of these young people is the first step to ensure equal opportunities in the labor market and their full inclusion".

Students have developed the practical work of maintenance and cleaning in La Glorieta and the Moneo building, from July 4 until today, representing a total of 80 hours.

Earlier in June, they received theoretical training on techniques and protocols with 40 hours given by staff Ferrovial Servicios Spain and outside experts.

Murcia is a pioneer in launching this program for employment in the cleaning division of Ferrovial and mentally retarded individuals, through an agreement with Fundown, designed to promote the employment of people with discapcidad through imparting formal training.

The cooperation of the City has allowed work hand in hand with Fundown, the foundation that bears more than 20 years looking for work and personal autonomy of people with intellectual disabilities and / or Down syndrome.

For the full inclusion

Last June, the City Council signed an agreement with Astrapace, which has led to the hiring of three people with cerebral palsy, in the departments of Social Rights and Modernization, after performing 500 hours of training and obtain the necessary qualifications.

Also, last week an agreement with the Association for the Integration of Persons with Intellectual Disability (CEOM) aimed at promoting employment through labor practices and the possibility of subsequent employment was signed.
