Entities disability and Social Rights work hand in hand to make Murcia a city 100% accessible (08/07/2016)

Conchita Ruiz has chaired this morning's plenary meeting of the Bureau of Disability, under the program of the 1st Conference on Local Participation.

Associations have received a document with almost fifty measures themselves have suggested to incorporate the plan.

Murcia will have an accessibility plan in the first half of next year.

To do so, the entities involved in the field of disability in the municipality and the Department of Social Rights take about nine months working together on the preparation of this document, which measures and actions of all kinds will be collected that considered necessary to convert to Murcia in a city 100% accessible.

Conchita Ruiz, responsible for the area, has chaired this morning's plenary meeting of the Bureau of Disability, which took place under the program of the 1st Day of Neighborhood Involvement held today in the Palace Almudí.

During the session, they were addressed lines of work carried out so far and associations have known about fifty proposals that have presented themselves in recent months to include in the plan.

Their contributions are vital because they know and have identified obstacles and difficulties that people with disabilities encounter in Murcia.

From now on a motor coach group will be responsible for implementing the project, which will have to address issues of all areas shall be established: urban, street, sports, new technologies, etc.

The aim is to develop a college plan in which it has the involvement of all departments.

The measures suggested so far by the 40 partnerships with already held meetings are very diverse.

They have raised, for example, improving the supply of adapted sports and the creation of a specific municipal service;

training in sign language to sports monitors;

theaters with reserved areas and accessible works;

accessibility of public schools;

the best adaptation of the web pages of the City;

the expansion of the signs guide and guided visits the exhibition halls;

or awareness activities and training to the general public and officials on universal accessibility.

From now it's time to consider the viability of all proposals and prioritize their implementation.

"We want viable and realistic performances that make us the roadmap must continue, because the will and the Council's commitment to implement universal accessibility plan is indisputable," he assured Conchita Ruiz.
