The Catholic University of Murcia has signed a partnership agreement with Electronic Sports Training Gamers to create the University Chair of eSports.
The president of the UCAM has signed an agreement with Tao Martinez, managing partner of the Training Gamers entity and CAFD grade teacher in the UCAM.
The director of the chair will Sergi Mesoreno, director of strategy League of Professional Video games, for his extensive experience in the field of eSports at the organizational level and communication.
"It is a first step taken in the field of electronic sports because it is the first Chair of eSports in the world, where they will investigate this social phenomenon and will deepen the scientific scope of this matter. we are currently trying to professionalize eSports in many countries, including Spain and we want to provide training and resources to do so from the University "Tao explained Martinez.
Meanwhile, Sergi Mesoreno commented that "it is a historic level of Spanish sport moment, because eSports is an area that is growing explosively in recent years."
He also mentioned that "they are making great international efforts to be recognized as a sport, as in South Korea, where it is considered an Olympic sport class 2, because in Spain the growth of professionalization of this activity, not only player level but also coaches, managers or executives of clubs, is very large and there is huge potential. "
This chair is a part of the project UCAM and Training Gamers electronic sports, training and research covering around eSports, electronic sports.
This young sport, which aims to become official in the near future, have a huge impact on a particular sector of the population, from 14 to 35 years.
From the chair various multidisciplinary research projects, workshops and courses to train about eSports, from professionals started to be put in place.
