The Governing Council of the University of Murcia (UMU), which met today at the Faculty of Law, approved, among other things, a plan of action in favor of refugees and the ethical code of this educational institution, as a call for aid for the transfer of research results.
The action plan to carry out in terms of shelter and refugees, which was presented by the Vice Chancellor of Coordination and internationalization, Bernardo Cascales, indicates that the UMU promote a series of awareness-raising and training of displacement and refuge such as organizing specific training courses on the subject, realization of university practices related to NGOs working in the care and integration of refugees, and others.
Other actions relate to research related to this subject and awareness of it through support networks, not to mention the efforts aimed at achieving accommodation for refugees.
As for the ethical code, the same has been presented by Professor Emilio Martinez, who stressed that is based on four values: commitment, dialogue, respect and responsibility.
In the first the need of putting the goals of the UMU, as a public service that is especially particular interest and promoting teamwork and cooperation, together with the contribution to sustainable and equitable development is highlighted.
Regarding the value of dialogue, with the same it is based on it everyday tasks and be transparent in the transmission of information, among other objectives.
Respect sign the code involves dealing with fairness, courtesy and consideration to everyone, while the responsibility if the aim is to honestly assume the duties and obligations and be willing to realize what has been done or not do.
These values ​​have been established by members of the university community and external agent which their opinion is also sought.
The rector Transfer, Entrepreneurship and Employment, Francisca Thomas, presented the agreement establishing a chair of equestrian research will be created, and the program to develop between the COIE and the various faculties of the University of Murcia for the development of guidance activities employment.
Also, Professor Thomas has exposed the main lines of the call for aid to the transfer of research results and support knowledge-based companies, which will involve an investment of 30,000 euros.
The rector, José Orihuela, referred in his report, among other issues, the meeting that the Sector of Student Affairs of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) held the next day 19 in the UMU.
Moreover, a proposal from the deans of the Faculty of Sociosanitarias of Lorca Sciences and the School of Psychology has agreed to give the name of Professor Jesus Gomez Love, who was dean of the two, to as many units of these centers.
A proposal by the rector, at the beginning of the session was held a minute of silence in memory of Professor of Law Felipe Ortega, who died yesterday.
