The Governing Board has given the green light this morning to the collaboration agreement with the Association of Centers for Women of the municipality of Murcia for the development and implementation of activities and programs aimed at the promotion and welfare of more than 11,000 women associated with the 75 Centers.
Through the Department of Social Rights, headed Conchita Ruiz Caballero, this measure for the promotion of partnership and gender equality, it is still encouraging and supporting women's centers as meeting places for women and platform to claim their rights and needs.
With this collaboration agreement, the City of Murcia, in addition to the sale, maintenance and equipment of the premises, provided to centers of technical assistance for the implementation of activities as well as counseling and support for the operation of the association and an allocation economic development of the annual program of activities, by granting an annual subsidy.
Currently there are 75 women's centers, which host approximately 11,150 asociadas-, of which 15 are located in neighborhoods of the town and 60 villages, counting all with local donated by the city of Murcia, with 72 local and municipal 3 rented.
The women's centers are set up as spaces for social empowerment and participation of women in the municipality, with deep roots and experience in the social dynamics of each neighborhood or district.
Associations bring together diverse women, in terms of age, ideology, training and needs, which are organized to manage a multitude of training activities, awareness of gender equality and women's rights, advocacy of physical, mental health and emotional, solidarity activities and social support, cultural and artistic activities and leisure time.
