Students of Architecture at the Catholic University of Murcia have won the second prize in the sixth edition of the competition held annually by the multinational Steelcase, specializing in equipment and optimization of workspaces, and aimed at this group company.
The initiative a total of 47 projects from 50 universities in Spain and Portugal were presented.
Participants had to create work environments that facilitate the creative process, while providing balance between the spaces that encourage creative and individual and collective work concentration.
Fourth grade students of the Polytechnic School of the UCAM, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, Francisco Jimenez, Arturo Martinez and Juan David Lopez, presented the 'Officebike' project.
This is the design of a bicycle that includes a system to transform mechanical energy that generates electricity with the pedaling and, in turn, stored in a battery for use at any time.
The trunk of this becomes an easel and the front basket on a table, so it could be converted into a mobile office with unlimited renewable energy.
The first award was for the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid, and the third prize, ex aequo, for ETSAG of Alcala de Henares and the Technical University of Lisbon.
