The fish of the sea and river, and aquaculture, is the object of study of the VI Iberian Congress of Ichthyology, which bring together starting tomorrow at the Congress Center Victor Villegas de Murcia over 200 experts in the field.
The University of Murcia (UMU) collaborating in organizing this meeting, which until Friday conservationists, researchers and managers to discuss scientific challenges and the current management of the fish, their habitats and their exploitation.
On the first day, during a special session dedicated to the restoration of aquatic systems, the experience of the Life project "Safe Riverlink", with which it comes to improving longitudinal connectivity of the River Segura will be exposed.
Among other activities, there will be a web conference on evaluation of steps created for fish to move without obstacles, which will give Ted Castro-Santosdesde the Fish Passage 2016, at the University of Massachusetts (United States).
As a postscript, participants will visit the site of action of this project, which will descend in rafting on the River Segura and can learn firsthand some of the steps created as a result of this investigation.
In addition to the UMU, Congress is organized by the Iberian Society of Ichthyology and the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura.
