On Tuesday the Spanish capital award winning "Challenge of Cities of Earth Hour 2015-2016", with which WWF distinguishes local governments that perform the best initiatives in the fight against climate change will be known.
Murcia and Palma de Mallorca are the two finalists who have reached the final stage of this competition, whose winner will represent Spain in the Challenge of Cities.
The Town Planning, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, will attend next Tuesday to Madrid to attend the conference organized by WWF and expose the initiatives of Murcia in the fight against climate change.
To reach the final, the jury considered Murcia its sustainable mobility plan to improve transportation and develop its tram, promotion of electric vehicles and low emissions, in addition to the loan system MUyBICI electric bicycles.
Thus the work of the departments of Planning, Environment and Huerta is recognized;
Promotion;
Modernization of the Administration, Urban Quality and Participation;
and Traffic and Public Safety, with the coordination of the Local Energy Agency.
In addition to Murcia and Palma de Mallorca, they participated in this call other fourteen other cities: Amurrio, Areatza, Balmaseda, Durango, Errentería, Granada, Jaen, Legazpi, Madrid, San Sebastian, Soria, Toulouse, Valencia and Vitoria.
