21 Symposium Sociolingüístico, an international congress held every two years and this time has been organized by the University of Murcia (UMU), brings these days in the Merced campus more than 1,100 registered from seventy countries.
The meeting, which runs until Saturday, analyze, through plenary sessions, lectures and posters, numerous debates on issues such as multilingualism, Anthropology and Linguistics, varieties of Spanish, language and ideology, national and transnational language and others.
In the opening ceremony, held today at the auditorium of the University of Murcia, have involved the president of the organizing committee, Professor of the University of Murcia Juan Manuel Hernández Campoy, who has referred to the content of the congress, and the Vice Chancellor for Coordination and Internationalization Bernardo Cascales.
The latter has welcomed the Congress on behalf of the University and highlighted the benefits of Murcia and this educational institution.
It has also asked the congressmen who can make something productive meeting for training.
At the opening session has intervened Filters group Voice Choir UMU, who heads Jorge Losana, and has been widely applauded.
The congress is organized by the departments of English and Spanish Language and General Linguistics at the University of Murcia, in collaboration with the university association Amel.
