School gardens of the 21 centers belonging to the Network of School Gardens ecological municipality of Murcia (RHEMU) will have hotels insects that ensure the survival of species that eliminate damage to plantations during the summer.
The reason is none other than rewarding the participation of public, private and charter schools in the municipality where they have used the school garden as a central theme to work all subjects getting and develop habits that help all students understand better those concepts related to organic farming.
The Town Planning, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro Corchón, has delivered these habitats for insects to schools that have participated during the academic year in the school garden program.
The hotel insect or asylum insect is a carrier support compartmentalized serving instead of hibernating / housing for different species of insects such as butterflies, beetles, lacewings, spiders, earwigs or ladybugs, artificially created with natural materials, which benefit the development an orchard, either through the pollination process, or by contributing to the elimination of those that may pose damage to plantations (pests).
The Department of Planning, Environment and Huerta, yields insect hotels to schools in collaboration with CEOM (Association for the Integration of Persons with Intellectual Disability).
The (RHEMU) is a network that has as its main objective the establishment of gardens in schools as a learning resource, where organic farming is the way to approach them through environmental education values ​​all that encompasses an orchard .
During the growth and development of planted species, said Navarro Corchón, "the students have learned a lot of knowledge that gives an orchard, a space where not only vegetables are careful, but a classroom more, where they develop a wide variety of educational activities. "
The centers are: The Arboleja, Avileses, El Palmar, Bacons Bridge, AYS, San Andres, San Juan, Marqués de los Vélez, Vistabella, San Pio, St. Joaquina de Vedruna, Santa Maria de Gracia de Murcia Cabezo de Torres, El Palmar, La Ñora, Sangonera la Seca, Espinardo, La Albatalía, Santo Angel and the Garres.
